Passable. Location of the hotel and the restaurant City Social on the 43rd floor.. The Grosvenor House that was 8 years ago is definitely not the same anymore. The service, the staff is so under-qualified.
First of all, I would like to stress out that the hotel rate was not the cheapest during the new year holiday. Of course, we understand its the busy period. But, also, we understand and expect corresponding service from the 5* hotel. On the arrival day, our room was not ready although the time was around 15:00. So, we had to wait for an extra hour. When we were checking in, we refused to pay extra for the breakfast since we knew that we were not going to have breakfast everyday. We were asked to leave some deposit, however I insisted that we will pay all the extras on the check out day (that is what usually guests do). The receptionist did not comment anything about my request and we waited for our room.
Second of all, we booked an apartment room where there was NO coffee machine. Instead, there were Nescafe sachets and some cheap tea. Such a disappointment. Let me remind you that the room rate on that period was very expensive - over $1000 per night without breakfast.
On the third day of our arrival the reception asked me to pay for our breakfast. Whereas the check out day was way ahead. I asked them whats the problem, that we agreed to pay everything on the check out day and bla bla bla. The reception staff said that we have to have a deposit so that we can have breakfast. That was very weird, cause on the check in day we did not have this information from the receptionist. And, after having breakfast nobody served us with the bill straight away. So, there is a huge miscommunication within the hotel staff and with the guests.
oh yeah, after telling them off everything what we think about them they brought us the coffee machine into the room!
Last but not least, the cleaning was once a day. Once the cleaning staff came at 22:00 to clean the room!!! Unbelievable!.
