. I chose this hotel for its prime location right in the heart of Old City. I knew it was a budget hotel but I expected basic amenities.
As soon as I checked in I saw that the toilet seat was broken, the coffee machine was dirty, there was no coffee or tea packets, there was no bath soap and the room generally needed cleaning. I had to get soap from the other rooms since no one was around to ask.
I assumed this was because I checked in early and that they would fix everything.
Nothing was fixed and I left for the day assuming they would take care of it.
By the next day nothing had been done and when I came back after a day of touring, I was livid. By now I had noticed that I was being treated differently and even the check-in process had seemed like a bother.
I finally confronted management who seemed surprised even shocked that I demanded better service. I confronted them about their racial treatment and told them that my race should have nothing to do with the service they provide- it should be excellent for ALL people.
They apologized but the damage was done.
In contrast, the adjoining coffee shop owner was fantastic and welcoming even though I didn’t end up patronizing his shop.
There are lots more closer hotels and I CANNOT recommend this one especially for people of color.
I didn’t however let this ruin my visit and Old City is a must visit, so much to see, do and just enjoy.

Terrible experience. Arrived at the hotel around 8:30pm (late flight), and the hotel doors were all closed. Didn’t have a phone so had to ask a taxi driver to call the number on the door. The owner said he would be there in about 4 minutes but kept us waiting in the cold for 35 minutes. I asked someone again to call and finally he showed up, was rude and didn’t even apologize. Showed us to our room and give us two keys, one for the room and one for the building as we were the only guests in the hotel. Then he left. There was no manager/owner or reception available after 8pm everyday. The breakfast was poor and should be avoided. There are nice places that offer great breakfast with 5 minutes walk. I wanted to cancel but hotel.com support told me I couldn’t cancel once I checked-in and I may not be able to get a refund. So, I had to stay the 4 nights.. .

. WE stayed at this property for a week and it was so hard for us to leave. Property owners Can (Jan) and Hassan were extremely accommodating, flexible at check in and check out and throughout the stay, and very welcoming. We felt home during our stay. Sarah prepared delicious traditional turkish breakfasts with authentic turkish touch. Hotel location is very convenient and lively; centrally located within the old city and a short walking distance to all the attractions: the port, the market, archeological sites, bazars, swimming beaches, municipality parks, entertainment and variety of restaurants. . .

. This is a very nice property, and the owners are lovely.
Unfortunately it’s VERY NOISY. It starts with the mosque loud speakers next door at 0600hrs, then the pedestrians start chatting outside your window all day, the taxis park right outside with their radios blaring, but worst of all, there’s a live music bar 20m away and it’s so loud you may as well be in the bar. I honestly don’t know how they are allowed to do it in a residential area. The music starts at 1700hrs and stops at midnight.
We had to use ear plugs to try and sleep, and my wife usually can sleep anywhere!
A nice property, but be warned, it’s slap bang in the middle of the busy tourist street.
If you want peace and quiet this is not the place for you. . .
